Position Summary

Temporary or on‑call Ameri Corps member in the 4‑H Health Corps team. Works part‑time, 28‑32 hours per week, from October 2026 to September 2027. Provides education on mental and emotional wellness to youth ages 8‑18 through classroom lessons and community workshops.

Term:
Two 9‑month terms with a week break between. Upon completion of the second term, the position may be closed for three months or converted to on‑call. On‑call members may work up to 1,039 hours in any 12‑month period.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead 4‑H SPIN clubs based on youth interests.
  • Teach healthy lifestyle lessons in area schools using the approved curriculum.
  • Recruit new youth to 4‑H SPIN clubs.
  • Attend family events to support healthy lifestyles programming.
  • Collect and report monthly data (surveys, attendance, narratives) via MSU Extension system.
  • Possibility to earn mental‑health certifications and provide one‑on‑one career coaching.
  • Attend bi‑monthly training and other Ameri Corps, 4‑H, MSU Extension events (up to 20 % of total hours).
Qualifications
  • Passion for mental, emotional, and physical well‑being.
  • Knowledge of youth development, volunteer recruitment, and program management.
  • Outgoing, confident, and able to work in a fast‑paced hybrid environment.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse community members and constituents.
  • Experience in program development and delivery to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of Civil Rights principles and compliance standards.
  • Education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lb of materials.
  • Sensitivity to and ability to use culturally appropriate approaches for diverse populations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally and to make occasional long‑distance trips.
  • Responsible for own transportation.
  • Proficiency in technology: web research, Zoom, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Work Hours

On‑call; may work evenings or weekends as required.
