Position Summary
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, and will have significant research interests and demonstrated success in quantum information science. The candidate will work with Ryan LaRose in the Department Computational Mathematics, Science, and Engineering (CMSE), with opportunities to collaborate with other faculty in the Center for Quantum Computing, Science, and Engineering (MSU-Q).
The start date for this position is flexible and applications will be reviewed until filled. The position is for one year with the opportunity to renew upon successful progress. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Ryan LaRose (rmlarose).

Required DegreeDoctorate - Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
Minimum Requirements- PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Dissertation topic and/or demonstrated research experience in quantum information science
- Strong familiarity with the mathematics of quantum information theory
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Developing quantum algorithms and estimating their resources
- Classically simulating quantum circuits, with and without noise
- Developing and benchmarking quantum error mitigation techniques
- Designing quantum error correction codes and/or decoders for quantum error correction
- Experience with Python programming
- Experience with high-performance computing
- Experience with machine learning (theory and/or practice)
