Research Scientist, Biology
Position Summary
The research group led by Dr. Yun Liang in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University is currently accepting applications for a full‑time Postdoctoral Fellow – Fixed Term. The Liang Labs focus on understanding the molecular basis of autoimmune diseases with the goal of finding cures. We use cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, genomics, and animal models, collaborating closely with physician‑scientists for translational studies.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual eager to advance scientific projects.
Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in their research. Contribute to technical publications and research proposals. Publish extensively and use exceptional resources to support independent research.

Work Location & ConditionsThis position is funded for one year from the date of hire with potential extensions contingent on funding renewal. The position requires in‑person presence in East Lansing, MI, and does not accommodate remote work.

Required DegreeTerminal degree in Immunology, Inflammation, or Autoimmune Diseases.
Minimum Requirements• Ph.D. in biological sciences, biomedical sciences, or a related field earned before the first day of employment.
• Evidence of prior productive scientific work with publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated hands‑on research experience in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry in the specific research area.
• Detail oriented, highly self‑motivated, organized, and enthusiastic to work both individually and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
- Scientific achievements demonstrated by peer‑reviewed research publications.
- Lab management and/or mentoring experience.
- Experience with animal studies.
- Excellent and effective communication skills.
- Participation in programs designed to promote inclusion and multicultural perspectives, fostering trust in a culture of collaboration.
