MSU Department of Plant Soil and Microbial Sciences
The Cropping Systems Agronomy lab at MSU focuses on current and emerging issues in corn-, soybean-, and winter wheat‑based cropping systems in Michigan, with the overall goal of improving the productivity and profitability of these systems for farmers. We are looking for a student to work part‑time in the fall 2026 term. This position can continue into the following semesters based on satisfactory performance and interest.
This position will help the student to gain experience in field crops research and data collection.
- Assist with planting and harvesting research trials on corn, soybean, and winter wheat
- Sample collection (soil and plant) and sample processing
- Data collection (e.g., plant and tiller counts, crop phenology and physiology notes, yield components, final yield)
- Learn from ongoing research projects (small plot research as well as on‑farm trials) and potentially lead a small project
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
