Postdoctoral Scholar Position
We cordially invite applications for a full-time postdoctoral scholar position at Michigan State University. The position will focus on the modeling, system design, and optimal power control of second-life batteries. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Huazhen Fang and other collaborators.
The research aims to advance the technologies needed to repurpose retired electric-vehicle batteries for second-life applications. Such batteries often exhibit substantial variability in their usage and aging histories, internal conditions, remaining capacities, and power capabilities. To address these challenges, the successful candidate will pursue one or both of the following research directions: degradation-aware electrochemical modeling and second-life battery system design and optimal power control.
The anticipated start date is October 2026, with the exact date negotiable. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension contingent upon research performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience while complying with Michigan State University policies.
