Role Description

The Parts Counter Representative is a full‑time, on‑site role located in Brighton, MI. This role is responsible for assisting customers, service technicians, and internal departments with identifying and supplying the correct automotive parts and accessories. Day‑to‑day tasks include answering parts inquiries in person and by phone, looking up parts in catalogs or systems, preparing estimates, and processing orders and returns. The Parts Counter Representative will manage inventory levels, support shipping and receiving activities, and ensure accurate stocking and labeling of parts.

The role also involves maintaining detailed records, communicating clearly with team members, and contributing to a positive, customer‑focused environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to build positive, long‑term relationships with customers and team members.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and active listening.
  • Experience with shipping & receiving processes, including handling deliveries, verifying orders, and preparing outgoing shipments.
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices, such as stock management, record‑keeping, and basic use of inventory systems.
  • Sales skills, including recommending parts and accessories, upselling when appropriate, and closing transactions accurately.
  • Basic automotive parts knowledge or willingness to learn; prior dealership or parts department experience is beneficial.
  • Comfort using computers and point‑of‑sale systems; ability to learn manufacturer and parts catalog software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license and a clean driving record preferred.
  • Ability to stand, move, and lift parts as needed throughout the workday, in line with standard dealership safety practices.
