Location: East Lansing, MI

Shift Times: 9:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Availability: Weekend availability required. Applicants not available on weekends will not be considered.

Pay: $15.00/hour starting wage, with opportunities for raises based on performance.

Benefits: Medical/Dental available upon start of employment.

Position Summary

A Security Guard at Signal is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for residents, employees, clients, and visitors by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance systems, enforcing access control, writing reports, and responding to emergencies. The role requires a strong sense of vigilance, adherence to company protocols, and the ability to collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and deliver dedicated services in accordance with company values and site‑specific Post Orders.
  • Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to ensure security.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, respond to alarms, and investigate disturbances.
  • Enforce access control and visitor management protocols.
  • Write detailed incident reports using company technology and web/app‑based software.
  • Assist in emergency situations and provide first response when needed.
  • Cooperate with law enforcement and emergency services as required.
  • Arrive on time for shifts, clock in/out, follow instructions, dress code, and appearance standards.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, cultivating a customer service relationship.
  • Report customer or property related information and concerns to the Advanced Dedicated Guard or Dedicated Branch Supervisor.
  • Maintain responsibility for Signal equipment assigned during shift (radios, keys/cards, vehicles, devices).
  • De‑escalate issues through professional communication.
  • Manage daily activities while meeting key benchmarks and expectations set by the Dedicated Branch Supervisor.
  • Communicate information via the Dedicated Branch Supervisor Daily Scrum to ensure operational excellence.
  • Remain physically able to patrol, walk, stand, and respond quickly for extended periods.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Pass background check and drug test.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to move equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military is preferred.
  • Valid security license or certification, if required by state/country.
  • Excellent observational, problem‑solving, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to service, organization values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.
  • Complete training modules within the first month.
  • Physical ability to patrol and respond quickly.
  • Shift work may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
