Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) offers substitute teachers the opportunity to work in a variety of school settings throughout Ohio. Substitute teachers play an important role in a student's education. We assist in placing substitute teachers in vacant positions to facilitate a student's education in the absence of their teacher. OSTS is proud to support East Liverpool City Schools in the employment of substitute teachers.

• Follow lesson plans:
  Substitutes follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to ensure continuity of education.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom:
  Create an organized and welcoming classroom environment.
• Ensure student supervision:
  Never leave students unattended in the classroom.
• Keep students safe and engaged:
  Engage students in the learning process while maintaining safety.
• Monitor student progress:
  Keep a close eye on students' progress and assist where needed.
• Maintain existing classroom management and discipline procedures:
  Follow existing procedures to ensure consistency.
• Understand school policy and procedures:
  Familiarize yourself with school policies and procedures.
• Provide written feedback:
  Give feedback to the regular teacher regarding the day's activities and student behavior.
• Maintain accurate attendance records:
  Record student attendance accurately.

• Clean criminal record verified through FBI and BCI background checks dated within 365 days of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in any field.
• Professional references:
  Provide three professional references.
• Teaching License:
  Either obtain an Ohio Department of Education Substitute Teacher License or possess a teaching license.
• Training:
  Complete Sub Skills Online training (if applicable) and submit all mandatory professional development modules on Public School Works .
• Effective communication:
  Communicate accurately and effectively, in writing and orally.
• Punctuality:
  Maintain punctual attendance record.
• Professional conduct:
  Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

• Enrollment in State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
• No nights, weekends, or holidays:
  Typical schedule aligns with regular school hours.
• Consistent, but flexible, scheduling.
• Exposure to the education field.
• Networking and professional references.
