Circulation Library Assistant
- Part Time, East Longmeadow Public Library (East Longmeadow)
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing customer service to patrons relating to the circulation of library materials and the daily operation of the circulation department or technical services department. Reports to Circulation Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions- Provides courteous and efficient circulation services to all library users.
- Processes library items including charging and discharges materials.
- Registers new borrowers and updates patron records.
- Places holds on items using integrated library system software, such as Evergreen.
- Processes inter-library loans and donations and reconciles payments owed by patrons.
- Assists patrons in locating library materials and in the use of all library services
- Processes and sends out notices for overdue materials in a timely manner.
- Processes reserved materials and system-wide holds requests; processes delivered materials, completes paperwork and notifies patrons.
- Sorts and re-shelve materials.
- Make basic repairs to materials.
- Processes magazines, coordinate homebound program, and/or update internal promotional slides on a regular basis.
- Prepares library for opening and closing including emptying book drop, turn on or off computers, and other related tasks.
- Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned by the Library Director or a department supervisor.
Education,
Skills & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent and from one to up to three years of experience in a responsible administrative position, preferably in a municipal setting, or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary NotesUnion: UPSEU Clerical, Part Time (21 hours/week) Tuesday - Saturday
