Registered Nurse - PACU

Role Overview: Provides high-quality, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and communicate clinical changes effectively. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles to deliver age-appropriate care, promotes professional nursing practice, and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

• Performs comprehensive assessments, including psychosocial and cultural aspects.
• Assesses and manages pain, educating patients and families on pain relief techniques.
• Develops and revises individualized care plans based on assessments and patient responses.
• Follows medication safety protocols, understanding medication actions and side effects.
• Ensures patient safety and positive outcomes through quality care and documentation.
• Utilizes critical thinking and prioritization skills, remaining flexible under stress.
• Creates and evaluates teaching plans for patients and families.
• Supports autonomous, evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
• Assists with peri-anesthesia procedures, airway management, and cardio-respiratory assessments.
• Provides accurate reports for safe patient transfer.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license in Connecticut.
• Certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or obtained within orientation).
• Basic computer skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Preferred:
  Critical care experience.
