Special Education Teacher - Special Education

Description:

The Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, specialized instruction in a structured therapeutic environment.

This role requires a collaborative approach to addressing the complex academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.

The focus is ensuring alignment with each student's Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and supporting their success within the community.

Responsibilities include following and implementing all aspects of special education programming such as IEP goals, data collection, and analysis.

The teacher will develop and implement quality instruction aligned to student needs that directly addresses IEP goals and objectives.

It is essential to utilize appropriate, differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.

Regular review and revision of assigned IEPs are required, maintaining strict adherence to each student’s goals.

Ongoing assessments will be maintained, providing up-to-date data, progress reports, and report cards for every student.

A supportive social and emotional climate that promotes effective instruction must be maintained.

The role includes supporting the development of students' physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Sound judgment is necessary for navigating student behaviors and complex problem-solving situations.

Fostering a safe, positive, and affirming teaching and learning environment is crucial for promoting student confidence and independence.

Building and maintaining professional rapport with students, staff, administration, and community stakeholders is vital.

Participation in meetings with support staff to discuss program needs and monitor student progress is expected.

Professional development activities aimed at improving instruction and promoting student success are encouraged.

Ethical and professional standards of conduct must be practiced continuously.

Collaboration with paraprofessional staff is essential in guiding classroom activities and monitoring student achievements.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
