Behavioral Health Nurses Needed

Summary

In need of a LPN or an RN who will provide direct nursing care to residents, supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and support personnel.
  • Plan shift services, programs, and activities, and provide written & oral reports.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to the unit/shift.
  • Complete & file required recordkeeping forms and charts.
  • Receive & transcribe telephone orders from physicians.
  • Chart nurses' notes in a descriptive manner.
  • Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Develop & maintain rapport with inter‑departmental personnel.
  • Maintain a warm, calm environment throughout the unit.
  • Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, dressing changes, colostomy care, blood draws, massages, and range‑of‑motion exercises.
  • Monitor personnel to ensure safety regulations are followed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
  • Provide IV & IV site care as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state licensure.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse with current unencumbered state licensure.
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Knowledge of nursing & medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines for nursing care facilities.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Cope with mental & emotional stress.
  • Meet general health requirements, including a medical & physical examination.
  • Push, pull, move, or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry that weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • Assist in evacuation of residents during emergencies.
