About EOCCSFounded in 1998, EOCCS opened its doors with 200 kindergarten and first grade students. Today, it serves 500 students from kindergarten to fourth grade. Primary ResponsibilityContribute to the school’s goals by providing quality music experiences to all students.
Scope of Responsibilities- Develop and implement a classroom music program that includes all students and addresses individual goals, including those documented in students’ Individual Education Plans.
- Use music education strategies consistent with the school’s curriculum.
- Write and report music objectives in progress reports and Individual Program Plans.
- Plan and offer annual music festivals.
- Participate in development and implementation of new programs.
- Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Invest in professional growth by attending meetings, conferences, and continuing education programs.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- New Jersey Department of Education Music Teacher certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or CEAS.
- Experience working with students of all ages.
- Effective instructional practices and strategies.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive instruction.
- Critical thinking, problem‑solving, and respect for others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character.
- Strong written and oral communication in English with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
- Previous experience teaching music to elementary students.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques.
- Ability to tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with one‑on‑one or group settings.
- Knowledge of various musical instruments and genres.
- Familiarity with tutoring methodologies.
Under the general supervision of the School Supervisor, facilitate student success and growth through district‑approved curriculum, documentation of progress, and individualized support. Create a safe and optimal learning environment, provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
Additional DutiesPerform other related tasks as assigned by Administration.
EquipmentStandard office equipment such as computer, printer, copy and fax machines, telephone, and musical instruments.
Travel RequirementsTravel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, with differentiated instruction.
