Founded in 1998, EOCCS opened its doors with 200 Kindergarten and First grade students. Today, EOCCS is a Kindergarten to Fourth grade school operating with 500 students. The Mission of the East Orange Community Charter School is to educate the "whole child" by providing all students with hands on, active learning experiences through back to basics activities. The EOCCS shall meaningfully involve parents, the community and the staff in a quality, comprehensive, safe, flexible, responsive and caring educational environment that shall challenge the children to achieve to their highest potential.
EOCCS shall be another choice for parents. Affluent families have far more choices than low to moderate income families and this charter school shall provide opportunities for low-income as well as other families to choose excellence. Scope of Responsibilities- Design and implement engaging and challenging physical education programs for students of various age groups and abilities.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and social skills.
- Utilize a range of teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Participate in school events and activities that promote physical education and overall student well-being.
- Stay current with best practices and research in physical education and related fields.
- Participates in the development and implementation of new programs.
- Prepares and implements weekly plans.
- Invests in professional growth by attending meetings, conferences and continuing education programs.
- Performs other duties as requested.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- A New Jersey Department of Education Physical Education Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS).
- Experience working with students of all ages.
- Effective instructional practices and strategies.
- Ability to analyze and use data to drive instruction.
- Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
- Previous experience teaching physical education to elementary students.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques.
- Ability to tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with students in a one‑on‑one or group setting.
- Knowledge of various musical instruments and genres.
- Familiarity with tutoring methodologies.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports.
- Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative.
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division's basic instructional philosophy and congruent with course and SOL standards; provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
