Job Summary
Treat actual or potential health problems using the nursing diagnosis and case management. Teach, counsel and provide supportive care to the patient and their significant others.
Essential Functions- Interviews patient (if possible) and/or family to obtain required history and make an accurate assessment.
- Assigns a triage priority based on observations and available information.
- Initiates diagnostic and therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocols.
- Calls for crisis intervention if appropriate.
- Communicates and acts as liaison between the patient, family, and health professionals in a manner that respects confidentiality and dignity.
- Coordinates the needs of the patient with supporting departments and assists in solving problems related to the welfare of patient and staff.
- Charts concisely, descriptively, and legibly indicating patient’s progress or lack or progress.
- Performs nursing procedures safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and adheres to, the hospital’s infection control protocols.
- Demonstrates compliance with exiting standards and policies.
Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state of NJ. Certifications required: BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support. IV Certification preferred.
Minimum Work Experience2 years or more experience in an acute care setting preferred. Critical care experience preferred.
Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkMust be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed.
