Job Description

The Nurse I, Level 1 Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments. Seeks guidance in how to improve care provided to patients and families.

Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient. The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills.

The Nurse I, Level 2 Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Practice includes directing other providers. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum.

This nurse has fundamental experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice.

The Nurse I, Level 3 Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. This nurse integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations.

Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. The nurse will demonstrate the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. The nurse demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.

The Nurse II Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

Evaluates practice in an ongoing process, based on best evidence. Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes.

The Nurse III Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement.

Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
