• Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives, property, prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry in accordance with Virtua policies and procedures.
• Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff by providing excellent customer service, hospitality, and a positive experience.
• Conduct weapon screening at public entrances using approved technology.
• Provide accurate information and directions; respond to all emergency situations.
• Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed.
• Monitor alarms and security cameras.
• Perform duties associated with assigned posts, including walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments.
• Monitor doors, surveillance cameras, and alarms using Health System technology.
• Utilize visitor control systems to process visitor entries and produce input/output data; manage weapon screening with handheld wands and EVOLV system, investigations, incident reports, and shift logs.
• Provide access control, infant protection, and security of sensitive areas.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with division team members, officer‑in‐charge, immediate supervisor, Nursing Supervisor, Health System security teams, and law enforcement agencies.
• Provide directions and escort visitors, vendors, patients, and staff to appropriate locations within and outside facilities and parking lots.
• Verify staff  compliance; ensure public obtains proper , passes, and badges; fabricate s.
• Respond to maintenance issues and involve appropriate leadership.
• Respond to emergency situations such as CODE Security and CODE RED alerts; serve as 1st level operations responder.
• Recognize hazardous/chemical spills and respond accordingly.
• Assist in use of specialized equipment as required.

• Two years of security experience preferred.
• Ability to remain level‑headed and respond quickly in stressful situations.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must meet insurance requirements.
• NJ Security Officers Registration Act (SORA) certification preferred.

$18.69 – $26.01; actual salary/rate will vary based on experience and internal equity.
