About the Role:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle and operational efficiency of a company's vehicle fleet within the United States. This role ensures that all fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and are utilized effectively to support business logistics and transportation needs. The Fleet Manager will coordinate with service departments and dispatch teams to optimize vehicle availability, reduce downtime, and manage maintenance schedules proactively.
Additionally, this position involves strategic planning to improve fleet operations, control costs, and enhance safety protocols. Ultimately, the Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring seamless transportation management that supports the company’s operational goals and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing vehicle maintenance programs and service departments.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM).
- Experience with fleet management software and logistics technology platforms.
- Background in large-scale transportation or logistics companies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices related to fleet operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily fleet operations including vehicle dispatching, routing, and scheduling to maximize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure all trucks and vehicles are serviced regularly and comply with safety standards.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT regulations and other relevant transportation laws to maintain fleet safety and legal operation.
- Collaborate with the service department to coordinate repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Analyze fleet performance data and logistics metrics to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
- Oversee procurement, registration, and disposal of fleet vehicles in alignment with budgetary constraints and company policies.
- Lead and train fleet staff to maintain high standards of service, safety, and operational excellence.
