Come join the Serverless Analytics Compute team in Amazon Athena! We are building the compute orchestration platform that powers Amazon Athena today — and will power other analytics services tomorrow. Our platform abstracts away the complexity of provisioning, scaling, and managing distributed compute workers so customers get instant, elastic capacity without ever thinking about servers, clusters, or fleet management.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy strategic technical projects that deliver large‑scale, high‑performance production systems.
• Design new distributed software systems and provide leadership on complex technical issues.
• Mentor engineers, complete hands‑on technical work, and mentor based on deep technical expertise.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ year of object‑oriented design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
