Software Development Engineer, AWS EMR

Amazon EMR is the industry leading cloud-native big data platform for processing vast amounts of data quickly and cost‑effectively ng open source tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Apache HBase, Apache Flink, and Presto, coupled with the dynamic scalability of Amazon EC2 and scalable storage of Amazon S3, EMR gives analytical teams the engines and elasticity to run Petabyte‑scale analysis for a fraction of the cost of traditional on‑premises clusters.

We are developing innovative new features including our next‑generation cluster and work management system, improvements for real‑time processing of big data, and ways to enable customers to more easily interact with their data.

In this role, you will collaborate with senior and principal engineers who are domain experts  will work on complex problems for a successful and long‑running product, influence how our customers use EMR for a wide variety of use cases, and get to work with a wide range of AWS services such as DynamoDB, Lambdas, API Gateway, Cloud Formation, EC2, and others.

You will learn and grow in distributed systems, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance, while contributing to the design and architecture of new and existing systems. Knowledge of GenAI tooling will be a plus.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
