We are seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to join our team in the Bay Area (Palo Alto) to help build and operate a petabyte‑scale data analytics service that enables customers to crunch exabytes of data per day. The successful candidate will design, implement, and deploy distributed, high‑performance data and transaction management solutions that underpin Amazon Redshift’s scalability, reliability, and speed.

• Design, implement, and deliver state‑of‑the‑art distributed data and transaction management algorithms and solutions.
• Continuously invent and re‑architect components and workflows to meet evolving data analytics demands.
• Deploy and monitor new features in a highly available, fault‑tolerant cloud system.
• Collaborate with and mentor other engineers, providing technical guidance and helping build a fast‑growing team.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new or existing systems with a focus on reliability and scaling.
• 1+ year of experience as a Software Development Engineer or in a related role.
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ year of Object‑Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Compensation includes a base salary, sign‑on payments, and restricted stock units (RSUs). The salary range for this role is $165,200–$223,600 USD annually, based on experience and location.
