Redshift’s Query Processing team is the heart of the data plane, responsible for the massive parallel execution engine. We are looking for innovative engineers to help shape the future of Redshift.
Key Responsibilities- Build systems that benefit Redshift clusters around the world.
- Own and code end‑to‑end deliverables from design, development, deployment, monitoring and operations.
- Define new features and architecture, distilling complex and ambiguous requirements into meaningful projects.
- Lead engineers on substantial projects and mentor and hire teammates.
- Design and code solutions to drive software architecture efficiencies, implement automation, and resolve software defects.
- Participate in design discussions, code review, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Work cross‑functionally to help drive business decisions with technical input.
- Operate in a fast‑moving, startup‑like environment.
- Build high-impact solutions for our large customer base.
- Create metrics, implement automation and improve processes.
- Debug and resolve root causes of software defects.
The team develops a best‑in‑class query execution engine focused on high scalability, performance and extended capabilities. Engineers here have expertise in query execution, optimization, high‑performance computing, compilers, distributed systems and data lake technologies.
Basic Qualifications- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C++, Java or Rust.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or engineering team leader.
- Experience with distributed computing and enterprise‑wide systems.
- Proficiency in building and operating mission‑critical, highly available systems.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
- Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Strong coding skills with emphasis on logical thinking, data structures, algorithms and problem‑solving.
- Experience with distributed, multi‑tiered systems architecture.
- Experience performing live system analysis using GDB.
The base salary range for this position is USD $ – $ annually. Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). The package also includes health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off and parental leave.
