Software Development Engineer – Amazon Redshift, Redshift

Amazon Redshift is the world’s most popular fully managed cloud data warehouse, serving tens of thousands of enterprise customers who use Redshift to analyze exabytes of data in the cloud and make business‑critical decisions. The query processing team is at the heart of the data plane, responsible for query analysis, optimization, and the massive‑parallel execution engine.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement new SQL language features that extend Redshift’s functionality for analysts, data engineers, and data scientists.
- Develop state‑of‑the‑art distributed data‑processing algorithms for the parallel execution engine.
- Integrate Redshift with other AWS services, including data ingestion, federation, machine learning, and more.
- Identify opportunities for performance improvement through in‑depth analysis of query plans and execution states.
- Deploy and monitor new features in a highly available, fault‑tolerant cloud environment.
- Mentor other engineers, providing technical guidance and helping to grow the team.
- 2+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience, including design patterns, reliability, and scalability of new and existing systems.
- 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience working on a database query engine.

The base salary range for this position is $165,200 – $223,600 annually for the East Palo Alto, CA location. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
