Overview

Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL Engine team is looking for experienced technical experts in relational databases and large‑scale storage system technologies. The role focuses on designing, developing, and owning system software components that power cloud‑native database services at scale.

• Collaborate with diverse teams to impact a global customer base.
• Resolve challenging technical problems across the stack.
• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions that improve performance, durability, cost, and security.
• Build high‑quality, highly available, always‑on products.
• Research and implement solutions that deliver the best customer experience.
• Mentor other engineers and lead design discussions and code reviews.
• Drive automation, metrics, and root‑cause analysis to support efficient development practices.
• Work cross‑functionally to inform business decisions with technical insight.

The team supports new members through mentorship and code reviews. Senior engineers provide guidance and help deliver high‑impact solutions. The environment focuses on growth, knowledge sharing, and empowering engineers to tackle complex tasks.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team leader.
• Strong communication, leadership, and customer focus skills.

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience in distributed systems, concurrency, database internals, caching, query optimization, or performance engineering.

The base salary range for this position is US $193,300 – 261,500 annually (East Palo Alto, CA, USA). The total compensation package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
