Adjunct Faculty – Communication Instructor

East Peoria Campus

The primary teaching assignment for this position will be the general education introductory course in oral communication. Adjunct Faculty are primarily responsible for instructing assigned courses meeting classroom standards, following institutional syllabi, maintaining office hours to ensure student success, and teaching on a part‑time basis up to 12 contact hours per semester.

• Instruct and coordinate courses, including lecture and/or lab‑based classes, ensuring all necessary materials and tools are readily available and safety standards are met, when appropriate.
• Follow syllabi for assigned courses, communicating expectations and schedule for the classwork.
• Maintain office hours and availability.
• Communicate with students, working to ensure student success.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to continuously improve and adapt the student experience to meet the needs of the student, community, and institution.
• Perform related duties as required.

• Master’s degree in Communication, Communication Theory, Speech Communication, Rhetorical Studies, or related field, or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Communication, Communication Theory, Speech Communication, and Rhetorical Studies.
• Applicants must be a resident of Illinois at the time of hire.

• Experience instructing, tutoring, or similarly teaching in Communication or Media Studies.
• Experience working in higher education.
