RoleDefinition
Supplier Development Engineer – East Peoria, Illinois. As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will assess supplier quality and ensure that all products are free from defects and comply with manufacturing specifications and legal standards.
What You Will Do- Ensure the quality of supplies by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify quality issues; develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Generate reports on supplier quality, monitor defect rates and potential flaw areas; guide suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Research potential vendors, assess their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures; conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards.
- Support suppliers in improving performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans.
- Foundry or machining management experience for metallic/non‑metallic drivetrain products; 5–10 years of foundry, machining, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Moderate understanding of data analytics for proactively identifying areas within supplier processes to apply PCA’s and improve performance and metrics.
- Working knowledge of Power BI development to maintain tools designed to manage supplier quality by facility.
- Working knowledge in data analytics.
- Effective Communications:
Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through appropriate communication behaviors. - Problem Solving:
Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. - Process Improvement:
Extensive understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods with a continuous improvement focus. - Quality Orientation:
Extensive knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques; ability to create and support an environment that meets quality goals. - Production Part Approval Process (PPAP):
Extensive knowledge of PPAP elements, submissions, and objectives; ability to determine whether a supplier can manufacture products that consistently meet quality requirements. - Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies:
Extensive knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

- The primary location will be Peoria, IL but can also be located in Decatur, IL.
