Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Drivetrain Forging and Casting Team at our East Peoria facility. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Team Lead in designing clutch housings for a wide range of Caterpillar products. This role involves concept modeling, stress analysis using CREO, coordination with detailing teams, and reviewing manufacturing-related documentation and deviations.
Support the Team Lead with clutch housing design across multiple CAT product lines.
Perform concept modeling and CREO-based stress analysis, including light Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Coordinate design detailing with external and offshore teams.
Review and provide feedback on PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process) and design documentation.
Conduct design assessments and evaluate deviations on non-conforming materials.
Generate first-pass design concepts and material as assigned.
Visit the Decatur plant periodically to support and review manufacturing processes.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical component design.
Proficiency in CREO or equivalent CAD software.
Strong problem-solving and team collaboration skills.
Experience with castings, particularly clutch or axle housing components.
Familiarity with rotating component design principles and practices.
