Buyer/Purchasing Specialist
The primary role of a Buyer/Purchasing Specialist is to acquire machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services essential for the efficient operation of an establishment. This position involves the purchase of goods and services for organizational use, ensuring optimal value and quality.
Responsibilities- Review and optimize suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, selection, service, support, and availability.
- Approve purchases of high-quality merchandise at the best possible price and in the correct amounts.
- Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Provide guidance to staff on resolving issues related to undelivered goods.
- Instruct staff on negotiation, renegotiation, and contract administration with suppliers and vendors.
- Collaborate with staff, users, and vendors to address defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective actions.
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and determine the need for changes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals, and other technical data.
- Proficiency in documenting and recording customer/client information accurately.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
- Understanding of supply chain management.
- Experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field is required.
- 2-4 years of finance-related experience in procurement, material planning, and program management.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required.
- Experience with Power BI is desirable.
- Strong stakeholder presentation skills are required.
- Open to candidates with a 2-year degree and 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience.
- Internships are considered as job experience.
- Comparable roles include Category Buyer and Supply Chain Engineer.
This position is office-based and does not require personal protective equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of East Peoria, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
