Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Amentum is seeking a General Maintenance Technician II to join our team in East Peoria, IL.
Location:
East Peoria, IL
- Typical work schedule is 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday–Friday; hours may vary based on business demand.
- Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.
- Facility maintenance preventive maintenance (PMs), repairs to pumps, ventilation, and other facility equipment.
- Monitoring utility and facility industrial equipment such as air compressors, boilers, water testing, oil samples, and collecting data.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by management.
- Work overtime when required and may need to work holidays and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Two years of preferred experience performing mechanical maintenance in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to make decisions and communicate well.
- Mechanical and/or electrical skills are preferred.
- Preferred ability to diagnose and troubleshoot facility and utility equipment in an industrial environment.
- Ability to identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures.
- Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- This position does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
- This position requires the ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
- May require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lb.
- Ability to regularly climb extension, roof, step ladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat repetitively during shift.
- Ability to kneel repetitively during shift.
- Ability to move in a 90‑degree fashion repetitively during shift.
- Ability to stretch/reach repetitively during shift.
- Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
- Use of a company/client approved utility knife.
- Ability to differentiate wire colors (color‑coding).
- Some tasks require repetitive wrist movement.
- Ability to interact with clients professionally and friendly even during stress.
- Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, bump caps and other PPE as needed.
- Cope with job‑related demands and maintain acceptable performance levels.
- Effective communication between co‑workers and management.
- Desire to learn, enhance knowledge and skills.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- May be required to work holidays and weekends.
