- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, shapers, or grinders; both CNC and manual.
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Organize machine programs.
- Responsible for managing tooling needs.
- Have all pieces verified by quality (in the event that quality is not available, use the "buddy system" to ensure quality of pieces).
- Ensure all parts are labeled and have job travelers with correct parts and record count for those parts.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
- 1-2 years manual and CNC machining experience required; 2-4+ years preferred.
- CNC Programming experience, required.
