Caterpillar Building KK in East Peoria, IL is looking to train new employees that desire to become our next employees in Heat Treat. The Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program is a paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and learning new skills. Positions available on 2nd and 3rd shifts after 4 - 6 weeks of training on 1st shift.

What You Will Do (including but not limited to):
Upon completion of the program, individuals will be responsible for:

  • Set up, operation, and adjustment of heat-treat equipment to perform carburizing, cycle annealing and die quenching of gears Physical Qualifications (with or without accommodation).
  • Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures, some extreme.
  • Frequent walking, bending, reaching.
  • Occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing.
  • Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating.
  • Standing for a minimum of 8 hour shifts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Previous heat treat experience.
  • Previous machine shop experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety at all times.
  • Excellent attitude and willingness to learn.

Additional Information:

  • 2nd shift:
    Monday
    - Friday 2:30PM - 10:30PM.
  • 3rd shift:
    Monday
    - Friday 10:30PM - 6:30AM.
  • Starting pay is $23.22 per hour.
  • $1.00 an hour night shift premium.
  • This is a supplemental position - minimum 40 hours per week with limited benefits available.
  • Relocation is not offered for this position.
  • This position requires no travel.
