Responsibilities
  • Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment or system malfunctions
  • Contact customer representatives and ascertain equipment or system problems
  • Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, modification notices, etc. to repair equipment
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install many different manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems, including Simplex-Grinnell
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specification software and systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops
  • Obtain customer signature upon completion of a service call assignment
  • Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation
  • Help train or mentor others on the service team
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals
  • Knowledge of test equipment, multi‑meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform physical labor, carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs
  • Ability to work in unusual and difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet, and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings
  • Flexible work hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Demonstrated high level of customer service
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs
  • Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
  • Retain any licenses required by national, state, and local codes
  • Must pass a background check and obtain an IL Perc card
  • Preferred NICET Level II certification
Hourly Rate

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $29.13 – $40.09 per hour. The rate depends on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
