Summary:
The PT Trainer
- Truck Driver Training is primarily responsible for providing an educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard. Part-time trainers will be expected to spend most instructional time in the yard and on the road with students.
Compensation for the PT Instructor is $ an hour. This position is required to work during the evenings.
Essential Duties:
- Facilitate truck driver training program lessons.
- Communicate and demonstrate truck driving skills and abilities to students.
- Use evaluation instruments designed to measure course objectives.
- Drive, inspect and clean trucks periodically.
- Recommend service for trucks when needed.
- Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active/valid Class A CDL license with acceptable driving record.
- Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
- At least 2 years of truck driving experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical aspects of tractor/trailers and DOT rules and regulations.
- Ability to relate to students to assist them to increase retention and student success.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to tailor teaching style to individual students.
- 5 or more years of experience as a driver.
- Experience instructing or Training CDL.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
