Clerical, Office Administrator/ Coordinator, Admin Assistant, Office Assistant
This position is responsible for a wide variety of routine clerical and administrative duties and for the professional and efficient managing of visitors, vendors, staff, citizens and public officials.
- Attend to visitors and greet staff, vendors, and citizens with inquiries on the phone and face to face, provide information regarding the City of East Point to the public and customers
- Answer telephone, screen, and direct calls; take and relay messages
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to City Clerk staff
- Prepare letters and documents, receive and sort mail and deliveries, schedule appointments
- Plan and organize meetings and trainings, maintain cleanliness of the reception area
- Promptly, accurately, professionally, and courteously receive and assess all telephone calls and visitor inquiries
- Sign for deliveries when necessary and notify recipients; gather refuse daily in common office areas
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to organization/project policies, regulations, and procedures
- Assist with clerical tasks to include typing, filing, proofreading, maintenance of logs, and data entry as needed
- Process transactions such as document review and verification of employment
- Report to work regularly and on time
- Assist with other duties as needed and directed
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to five (5) years of related general office work experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of:
Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
- Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Knowledge of keyboarding and data entry basics
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Professional personal presentation

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the City
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to problems
The work is performed under the general supervision of the City Clerk.
