Description:
The Early Childhood Teacher under the direction of the Principal must be versed in the Early Learning and Development Standards for the state of Rhode Island. Teachers will provide guidance to families, teachers, and administrators on what children should know and be able to do as they enter kindergarten.
- (a) Ensure mental ability, achievement, and other authorized tests are administered consistently.
- (b) Continuously improve the testing program by observing, critiquing, and suggesting improvements.
- (c) Use test results to improve classroom instruction.
Meet the requirements of the State Board of Regents for certification in the area of instruction.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid Rhode Island certification PK‑2.
- Skills essential for implementing a Pre‑K curriculum.
- Child‑centered educator who continually assesses and refines teaching practices.
- Ability to conduct ongoing child assessment including observations, work samples, and interviews with children and parents.
- Engage families in developing a partnership for child learning at home.
- Knowledge of research and best practices in early childhood development.
- Understanding of Rhode Island Workforce knowledge and competencies.
- Experience in Pre‑K (preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood.
- Certification PK‑2.
- Interview required.
- Continued professional development in early childhood education.
- Three to five years of teaching experience (required).
- Early Childhood/Special Ed. certification preferred.
