Overview

PROCESS ENGINEER, EAST PROVIDENCE, RI. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and repeatability. The successful candidate will play a key role in setting the process, specifying equipment, establishing process controls, and training production staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on the production floor, solving problems in real time, and learning by doing.

Responsibilities
  • Process Development:
    Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, equipment, workflow, and process parameters to meet production and quality goals. Track and analyze production data to identify trends or areas for improvement. Conduct continuous improvement projects. Conduct process development for new product introduction. Ensure processes follow established safety and quality guidelines. Lead development projects for manufacturing processes.
  • Equipment and Test Development:
    Develop and support manufacturing equipment and in process quality control equipment. Develop and support in process quality control test methods. Set equipment requirements, work with vendors to procure equipment and conduct FAT/SAT. Identify critical spare parts and equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Set Process Controls and Procedures:
    Establish and document robust process control plans, operating procedures, and standard work instructions to ensure consistent quality and throughput. Implement product controls in process. Create process flow diagrams and conduct process failure modes effects analysis (PFMEA).
  • Train Operators:
    Develop and deliver standard operation procedures/work instructions, job safety analyses and hands-on instruction for operators and technicians to ensure proper understanding and execution of manufacturing processes.
  • Support Operations and Quality:
    Support as subject matter expert for any operations or quality issues in production. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, other related Science/Engineering, or commensurate experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a process engineering role.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to create detailed process documentation and training materials.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., medical devices, automotive, electronics) is a plus.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and quotas.
  • Possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset and a hands-on can-do attitude.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing preferred.
  • Must be considered a U.S. Person eligible to work in the United States.
Work Environment
  • General office and manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • This position requires working near electrical and mechanical equipment that could potentially interfere with pacemaker function.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to use computer and sit at a desk.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking to various stations or areas of the production floor.
  • Visual acuity for reading measurements, assembly instructions, and monitoring equipment.
  • Hearing ability to detect alarms, machinery sounds, or verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
  • Will be required to wear appropriate PPE as outlined by company safety protocols.
