Repair Station Technician - 1st Shift.

Location:

Rumford, RI. Core hours: 7am – 3pm. Hourly rate: $30.79 (subject to candidate skills, experience, and market considerations). The facility is a unionized location with a 60‑day probationary period before union membership applies. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits and candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius (active‑Duty military exempt).

• Set up and operate drill presses, hydraulic presses, vapor degreaser, sandblasting machine, hand and pedestal grinders, Lepel induction unit, hand screw press, and riveting machine per operational procedures.
• Set up and use test fixtures to test assemblies for leakage, using hoist to lift test fixtures.
• Produce parts from prints, method sheets, operation sheets, sketches, and verbal instructions while adhering to quality and quantity standards.
• Perform bench and machine operations to assemble and test seal assemblies, including removing carbons, guide pins and plates from housings, inserting carbons, assembling, riveting plates and pins, and cleaning, polishing, deburring, marking, and sandblasting parts as required.
• Operate ovens to bake, thermal cycle, or heat treat parts; perform machine and hand lapping, burr removal, polishing, and bonding inserts in small composites; mark and package seals per requirements.
• Use CMM, micrometers, verniers, indicators, surface plates, gauges, comparators, and other measuring devices. Check own work after setup; first piece is checked by Supervisor or Group Leader.
• Report faulty operations, defective material and unusual conditions to Supervisor. Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in clean and orderly condition. Follow safety precautions, company rules, and regulations.
• Complete induction process and handle customer returns for the Repair Station. Initiate repair process on gearbox and main‑shaft seals using standard work teardown and assembly sheets; release housings using proper version numbers for required overhauls.
• Perform duties of the Face Seals Utility Operator as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 1 year of experience reading blueprints, using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers, and shop mathematics or related experience.
• Applicants must be U.S. persons per ITAR regulations.

• Position requires use of hardware subject to ITAR; all applicants must be U.S. persons.

• Use good judgment and make independent decisions when setting up and operating machines.
• Lift and hoist test fixtures; maintain mental and visual attention for operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Safely operate presses and other machinery.

• Exposure to dust, dirt, and grease.
