The East Providence Prevention Coalition (EPPC) is seeking a motivated and community-focused Project Coordinator to support the implementation of the Coalition's substance use prevention initiatives, including activities funded through the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program and other prevention funding sources.

The Project Coordinator will play an active role in program implementation, school-based prevention programming, youth engagement, community outreach, Coalition meetings, events, data collection, and other activities supporting EPPC's mission.

The schedule will include a combination of regular office/program hours and flexibility based on needs. Some evening and occasional weekend hours will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator performs the following, but is not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Executive Director/DFC Program Director, Coalition members, school administrators, youth, community partners, teachers, counselors and other key sectors to coordinate and implement evidence-based prevention strategies and programming throughout the city of East Providence.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of EPPC prevention programs and strategies involving alcohol, cannabis, vaping/nicotine, other substance use, mental health, heathy decision-making and other protective factors within East Providence schools and other community settings.
  • Assist and participate with preparation of program materials, participant recruitment, scheduling, logistics, outreach activities and follow-up for EPPC Coalition meetings, work groups, community meetings/events, trainings and partner meetings as needed.
  • Maintain communication and build positive working relationships with Coalition members, schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, businesses, community partners, etc.
  • Assist with recruitment and engagement of representatives from key community sectors.
  • Encourage and incorporate youth in the planning and implementation of prevention campaigns, educational activities, community events, trainings, and other youth-focused events.
  • Represent EPPC at community events, resource fairs, school activities, and other outreach opportunities. As well as assisting with event logistics such as registration, materials, volunteers, vendors, and set-up.
  • Assist with social media, community messaging, promotional materials, and other outreach activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of programs, activities, community outreach, youth engagement, and other Coalition participation.
  • Assist with documentation required for grant reporting, progress reports, work plans, and program evaluation.
  • Support administration by tracking surveys, program activities and assist in ensuring grant-funded activities are implemented according to approved work plans and timelines.
  • Participate in required DFC, prevention, and professional development trainings.
  • Maintain knowledge of current substance use prevention strategies, evidence-based practices, youth prevention trends, and community needs.
  • Assist with facilitation of prevention programs and presentations as trained and appropriate.
  • Obtain and maintain applicable prevention program facilitator certifications as needed.
