Summary
Under the supervision of a professional registered nurse, clinical manager, or licensed independent practitioner and within office practice policies and procedures, performs a variety of activities to provide nursing care to patients. - Collaborates with the professional registered nurse, clinical manager, or licensed independent practitioner for plan of care.
- Documents data collection and observations in the medical record.
- Plans and manages patient care according to each patient’s needs.
- Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
- Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
- Provides routine care for patients.
- Administers medications, cleans and dresses wounds, and assists with other basic medical care tasks.
- Observes patients’ health.
- Reviews medical charts.
- Assists physicians and registered nurses.
- Communicates with patients and their families.
- Performs standard diagnostic procedures such as EKG, PFT, and Doppler. Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs other duties as necessary.
Basic Knowledge:
Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing with the current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. In each step of the care process, demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
- Completed state‑approved LPN education program.
- Current LPN license to practice.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Previous clinical or healthcare experience.
- Strong knowledge of computers; adept at data entry.
- Excellent observation skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- BLS certification.
- 1‑2 years recent nursing experience, preferred.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping.
Pay RangeUS $24.29 – $40.07 per hour
