Financial Reporting, Cost Accountant, Accounting Manager
Near the Meadowlands in NJ. Hybrid, 3 days in.
We are partnering with a growing manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, inventory analysis, and financial reporting. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with the CFO, VP of Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to drive financial performance and support strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities:- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Manage manufacturing cost accounting functions, including:
- Standard costing
- Cost roll‑ups
- Inventory accounting
- WIP analysis
- Variance analysis
- BOM review and maintenance
- Analyze production costs, labor efficiencies, material usage, and manufacturing variances.
- Partner with plant operations to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities.
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual operating plans.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
- Assist with external audits and year‑end reporting requirements.
- Drive ERP system enhancements and reporting automation initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Cost accounting
- Inventory valuation
- Standard costing
- Cost rolls
- Manufacturing variance analysis
- Month‑end close
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred, not required.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Manufacturing, distribution, industrial, aerospace, food manufacturing, consumer products, or related industries.
- Experience partnering directly with operations and plant leadership.
- Hands‑on involvement with inventory controls, costing methodologies, and process improvements.
