What You Will Do

• All staff are expected to be in their classroom by 7:30 am and remain until 3:30 pm. The School Social Worker plays a vital role in supporting the holistic development of students by addressing their physical, emotional, and academic needs. This position involves fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment in collaboration with teachers, staff, and families. The School Social Worker provides individualized and group support, promotes positive behavior, and assists students in developing the skills and independence necessary for success.
  
  By building strong relationships with students and stakeholders, the School Social Worker ensures students' academic and behavioral goals are effectively met while cultivating a collaborative and inclusive school community. The School Social Worker helps manage the school's trusted adult system and mentoring for all students. The School Social Worker serves as an advocate for students and families. They identify and share resources with our families.
  
  Collaborates with and acts as a liaison with the local school district's HAT Officer to support and address homeless, attendance and truancy needs for the students and families ves as a key member of teams such as MTSS, PBIS, Attendance, 504, etc. Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions including both local, federal and state. The School Social Worker will assist teachers and staff with identifying and implementing strategies to address behavioral concerns within the classroom to strengthen the academics.
• The school social worker will serve as a resource, support and assistant to the facility, administration, students and parents in compliance with Standards to the School Social Worker. The SSW assists students with personal/social/academic development. S/he will help students/parents/guardians find and access social services resources to meet individual and small group needs. S/he acts as a resource to school administrators, counselor, teacher, and social service personnel regarding student attendance, monitoring student attendance and working directly with families when attendance issues prevail.
  
  S/he helps students set realistic short/long term goals and works with teachers/counselor to assist students in completing their personal high school (grades 9 12) portfolio. The incumbent will establish and expedite programs and activities to assist student(s) when behavior interferes with academic achievement, college and/or career readiness upon graduation. The incumbent will provide guidance, resources, and assistance to Charter High School students and/or legal guardians in preparation for college attendance.
  
  The incumbent is expected to maintain confidentially at all times as well as follow national and state standards for school social workers.
