Position Summary

Ready to take your drafting career to the next level? We're looking for a Drafter II who thrives on collaboration, precision, and turning complex project requirements into detailed, build-ready drawings.

The Drafter Level II is responsible for producing intermediate‑to‑advanced AutoCAD and Revit drawings for insulated metal panel (IMP) projects. This role performs drafting tasks with moderate independence, prepares accurate material take‑offs and bills of materials, and completes shop drawings of standard to moderately complex difficulty. The Drafter maintains a solid understanding of AWIP products, drafting workflows, calculation tools, and construction principles, while supporting Level I Drafters and collaborating with senior Drafting team members and Project Managers to ensure project accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to AWIP standards.

Essential

Functions
  • Use Revit and AutoCAD to create accurate drawings of IMP structures in accordance with AWIP drafting standards, construction practices, and project requirements.
  • Modify, develop, and maintain Revit families and integrate them into project templates with minimal supervision. Complete drafting assignments and BoMs accurately and consistently, including projects with moderate complexity or multiple special conditions.
  • Extract and interpret information from customer drawings; coordinate with Project Managers and Sales to clarify missing or conflicting details.
  • Apply a working understanding of AWIP calculation processes and engineering concepts to ensure drafting accuracy (without independently modifying engineering methods).
  • Perform detailed plan checks and BOM reviews for standard or moderate-difficulty projects prepared by Level I Drafters.
  • Support Level I Drafters by providing guidance on drafting practices, Revit/AutoCAD usage, and AWIP procedures.
  • Manage personal project schedules with increasing independence, prioritizing tasks according to drafting workloads and deadlines.
  • Maintain solid understanding of construction engineering terminology, IMP system behavior, and product application limits.
  • Follow and reinforce AWIP SOPs, best practices, and drafting standards, identifying inconsistencies and elevating concerns to Supervisors.
  • Participate in team training sessions and contribute to the development of internal drafting resources and tools as assigned.
  • Complete all required training, including in-person sessions conducted by Supervisors or senior Drafting team members.
  • Comply with all company, departmental, and safety policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; working proficiency in Revit strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and architectural details with increasing accuracy.
  • Ability to create and edit AutoCAD blocks, manage drawing layers, and prepare properly formatted layouts.
  • Intermediate skills with PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Working knowledge of core AWIP products, IMP system behavior, and common connection details.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams (Project Managers, senior Drafting team members, Sales).
  • Ability to follow established drafting standards and contribute observations for process improvement.
  • Ability to provide support and instruction to Level I Drafters on standard drafting tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with initiative to research missing information or request clarification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficiency with Box, Whats App, or similar productivity tools.
