Tenure Track Assistant​/Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, with a specialty in biochemistry or analytical chemistry, starting in August 2026. Primary responsibilities include teaching biochemistry and/or analytical chemistry, and associated laboratories. Additional teaching responsibilities may include general chemistry, non-majors' courses, and upper-division courses in their area of expertise.

The successful candidate will demonstrate highly effective teaching and enthusiasm for advising and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate students. An active research program involving undergraduate students is expected. Faculty also contribute to university service by participating in activities including committee memberships, curriculum development, and outreach.

The Department's Chemistry and Biochemistry programs are accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). The department is located in the Hoeffner Science and Technology Center and populates 13 dedicated teaching and research laboratories, a cold room, and modern faculty offices. The department maintains an impressive suite of instrumentation including a Bruker 400 MHz NMR, Agilent LC/Q-TOF Mass Spec, GC/MS, GC, Eclipse Fluorescence Spec and HPLC.

Qualifications:

* A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field must be completed prior to appointment.

* Highly qualified candidates with ABD status at the time of application will be considered with documented evidence of anticipated degree conferral.

* Previous experience or demonstrated ability to teach biochemistry, analytical chemistry and general chemistry is preferred.

* A strong publication record in the area is highly desirable, as is experience in obtaining research grant funding.

* Experience or interest in curriculum and course development is advantageous.

* Interest or experience in secondary education chemistry teacher preparation would be valued.
