Position: 23-26 CY English Adjunct Pool
East Stroudsburg University's Department of English is looking for Instructor(s) to teach introductory courses. Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

The Department of English at East Stroudsburg University is establishing a three-year, temporary faculty teaching pool. Candidates must be able to teach one or more of the following: college composition, business writing, and literature. The successful candidate will be an active member of the department and will work to develop and mentor students. Applications on-hand will be used to fill vacancies as needed.

ESU's English Department offers several programs of study that lead to Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. The program offers a comprehensive foundation of courses and an opportunity for students to select elective courses within specific areas of English and English education to prepare students to excel in their careers and life.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in English or related field is required. Applicant must have relevant teaching experience in college composition and college-level writing courses. Candidate should demonstrate teaching excellence. Final selection will be based on evidence of high scholastic achievement in graduate studies, scholarship, and/or creative endeavors in writing; demonstrated strength and depth of teaching experience; a review of the candidate's curriculum vitae;

and a successful interview. Distance learning and/or off-campus teaching opportunities may be possible.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience working with diverse student populations, a terminal degree in English (either a Ph.D. or M.F.A), experience teaching introductory literature courses, and experience in teaching distance education are preferred.
