Registered Nurse

Overview

The outpatient or ambulatory care nurse provides professional nursing care to designated patients in an outpatient facility, clinic, or virtual setting, as well as care coordination across the continuum. Maintains a safe work environment and upholds clinical and professional competency appropriate to the patient population served.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to ensure optimal patient satisfaction.
• Deliver skilled practical nursing care using validated technical skills, including medication administration and procedures.
• Provide patient and family education, evaluate education effectiveness, and ensure education materials are current and appropriate.
• Intervene to prevent, minimize, or correct actual or potential patient risks based on observation of physiological, behavioral, and environmental factors.
• Act as a resource for patients and family members; listen effectively and provide/accept constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Commitment to quality and safety in accordance with established policies, using evidence-based practice.
• Ability to initiate, accept, and adapt to change within a healthcare setting.
• Excellent time management and computer skills (including EMR, word processing, and Excel).
• Participation in clinical meetings and multi-disciplinary quality service improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge and competence reflecting current nursing practice.
• Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to the specialty and attainment/maintenance of unit-specific competencies.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• RN – Licensed Registered Nurse (State of Pennsylvania) upon hire.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• 1 year of experience as a registered nurse and/or experience congruent with the role in the service line.

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: push/pull patients on a bed or stretcher; lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient’s weight.
• Frequent to continuous standing and walking. Patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift.
• Activities specific to the role may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
