Client Overview:
Our client is a collaborative, professional lab facility overseen by established leaders with many years of hands-on experience. They boast a positive work environment facilitating success, with a common goal of creating safe and effective products for consumers. They are currently looking to add a QC Microbiologist to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:$21/hr - $24/hr
Position Overview:The company is seeking a detail-oriented QC Microbiologist to join a highly regulated manufacturing site housing labs and a production floor. This entry-level laboratory role focuses on microbial testing of in-process and finished goods, ensuring products meet regulatory and quality benchmarks before reaching consumers.
Responsibilities of the QC Microbiologist:- Conduct microbial testing on incoming raw materials, in-process batches, and finished goods.
- Keep thorough, organized records of testing activities using digital systems and/or physical logbooks.
- Evaluate and interpret microbiological results with attention to accuracy.
- Communicate findings clearly to lab leadership and relevant departments.
- Prepare growth media, conduct growth promotion testing, and log all related activities.
- Safely dispose of biological waste and spent media per internal protocols.
- Track and manage laboratory supply inventory.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment, including autoclaves, and troubleshoot as needed.
- Stay current on emerging tools and methods in microbiological testing.
- Take on additional tasks as needed to support lab operations.
- Foundational understanding of aseptic technique, media preparation, and culture handling.
- Experience preparing media, maintaining cultures, and disposing of biological waste properly.
- Capacity to work independently, following instructions and standard procedures to completion.
- Familiarity with FDA, USP, EU, and ISO standards for microbial testing.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or another scientific field is required.
