Position: LCV Technician / Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Fitter/ Plant Technician

LOGICALPS are one of the UK's leading labour providers to the construction and nuclear sectors. On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced a LCV (light commercial vehicle) mechanical fitter for long-term/ongoing work on a major project in Leiston, Suffolk.

Duties Include:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Plant Mechanic to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of heavy plant machinery. The successful candidate will have strong fault-finding abilities, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a wider maintenance team.

This role is critical in ensuring machinery remains safe, compliant, and fully operational to support site operations and productivity.

Responsibilities include:

* Servicing & Repairs:
Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs on LGVs, trailers, and fleet vehicles.

* Diagnostics:
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults using professional diagnostic software to clear and resolve fault codes.

* Component Replacement:
Repair and overhaul critical vehicle systems including engines, gearboxes, brakes, clutches, suspension, and steering.

* Compliance:
Ensure all workshop activities meet strict DVSA, manufacturer, and internal company compliance standards.

* Breakdown & Field Repair:
Conduct roadside breakdown repairs and emergency defect rectification when required.

* Documentation:
Complete and maintain precise job sheets, service history records, and vehicle inspection documentation.

* Workshop Safety:
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment while actively contributing to continuous improvement safety standards.

Pay Details:

Full PAYE

* 50–80 hour weeks available

* 12 on, 2 off rotation

* 12-hour shifts typical

* ** Shift patterns can change

Basic: £24.14 per hour

1.5x Overtime: £36.21 per hour

2x Overtime: £48.28 per hour

Lodge paid per shift worked

Estimated Gross Earnings:

* 5 Days: £1400 (including 5 x lodge)

* 7 Days: £2600 ( including7 x lodge)

(Exact earnings dependent on hours worked and shift pattern.)

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

* NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, vehicle maintenance , light commercial vehicle maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

* Minimum 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience.

* Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and basic electrical systems.

* Experience working with commercial vehicles

* Full UK Driving Licence.

* Ability to work safely in a fast-paced operational environment.

* CSCS
