Eastmont School District, Eastmont Maintenance Office - East Wenatchee, Washington

Salary: $34.35 to $43.88 per hour

Position Summary

Eastmont School District is seeking a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, building automation controls, and commercial kitchen equipment throughout the district. This position plays a vital role in maintaining safe, comfortable, and efficient learning environments for students and staff.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct indoor air quality testing and system performance evaluations.
  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain district HVAC and refrigeration equipment to maximize system reliability and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors when specialized services are required.
  • Operate district service vehicles and transport materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and related documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install commercial HVAC systems, including:
    • Chillers
    • Cooling towers
    • Heat pumps
    • Condensers
    • Electric resistance heating systems
    • Ventilation systems
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and program building automation and DDC control systems, including:
    • Automated Logic
    • Honeywell
    • Other related control systems and field devices
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen and refrigeration equipment, including:
    • Freezers
    • Refrigerators
    • Walk‑in coolers
    • Ice machines
    • Ovens
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, vocational training program, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of HVAC/Refrigeration experience.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (required).
  • Washington L&I Low Voltage Certification (preferred).
  • Ability to provide copies of all required certifications and licenses.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and related mechanical systems.
  • Experience with building automation and DDC control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using computers and electronic work order systems.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with staff, students, contractors, and the public.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in environments with dust, fumes, odors, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Safely work a full shift in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
