Sheet Metal Shop Supervisor

Sheet Metal Shop Supervisor Our client has both New Product Development for new technology products AND of their legacy niche products that the company was founded on sixty (60) years ago. They are seeking an experienced and hands-on Sheet Metal Shop Supervisor to lead their fabrication team. This role will oversee daily shop floor operations, manage a team of sheet metal fabricators and machine operators, and ensure that all projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in sheet metal fabrication, blueprint reading, excellent leadership skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership & Supervision:
Manage, mentor, and evaluate shop floor personnel, including assigning daily tasks, scheduling shifts, and supporting professional development.
• Production Management:
Oversee the fabrication process from raw material to the subassembly level, ensuring output meets strict quality, timeline, and budget goals.
• Quality Control:
Inspect parts and assemblies to verify adherence to blueprints, engineering specifications, and industry tolerances using precision measuring tools.
• Equipment Maintenance & Workflow:
Coordinate routine maintenance and troubleshooting for shop machinery.
• Resource & Material Management:
Monitor inventory levels of sheet metal, hardware, and consumables, coordinating with purchasing to prevent outages.
• Safety & Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards to maintain a zero-injury workplace.
• Continuous Improvement:
Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to improve workflow, reduce cycle times, and cut costs.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
• Ten (10) years of experience as a fabricator, sheet metal fabricator, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Technical

Skills:

o Proficiency in aluminum sheet metal work. o Proficiency in operating conventional machine tools, including lathes, mills, plasma cutters (Torch Mate), laser cutters (Boss Laser), press brakes, drill press, grinders, shears, and 3-axis Bridgeport CNC machine. o Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and tooling. o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. o Ability to measure tolerances utilizing calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
