TCG Specialist

The TCG Specialist is responsible for supporting all Trading Card Game operations at The Battle Standard, including product knowledge, singles organization, event support, and community engagement. This role helps create a welcoming, knowledgeable, and exciting environment for both new and experienced players.

• Assist customers with TCG product selection, game questions, and recommendations.
• Maintain and organize singles inventory, binders, and display cases.
• Support TCG events including casual play, leagues, prereleases, and tournaments.
• Stay up to date on major TCG releases, meta trends, and product lines.
• Help new players learn games and feel comfortable joining the community.
• Assist with restocking, merchandising, and maintaining clean play and retail spaces.
• Support buylist processing, trade evaluation, and collection sorting (if trained).

• Familiarity with one or more major TCGs such as Magic:
  The Gathering, Pokémon, Flesh and Blood, Star Wars Unlimited, Lorcana, etc.
• Strong understanding of TCG products including booster boxes, bundles, starter decks, sleeves, accessories, and singles markets.
• Experience playing at casual, league, or competitive level is preferred but not required.
• Previous retail, customer service, or hobby store experience is a plus.
• Experience teaching games or mentoring new players is highly valued.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain rules and game concepts clearly.
• Organized and detail-oriented, especially with inventory and singles.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail and event environment.
• Passion for tabletop gaming and community building.

• Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts and events.
• Ability to lift and move product boxes (typically up to 30 lbs).
• Weekend and evening availability is strongly preferred due to event scheduling.

• Customers feel welcomed, supported, and excited about TCGs.
• Singles areas and TCG sections remain organized and accurate.
• Events run smoothly with strong player participation and positive feedback.
• New players feel comfortable learning and returning to the store.
